Lawrence Eagle Tribune December 1911

Thinking men wonder, says the Lowell Star, why it is that every sleighing party from Lawrence signals its coming to the city by the most unearthly noises, such as yelling and blowing of fish horns and other ear splitting trumpets.  Everybody who hears a great noise on the street at night when the sleighing is good knows that in an installment of Lawrence people is in town.  Aside from the horn blowing and yelling, the visitors are entirely respectable, and well-behaved and everybody is glad to know that they are enjoying themselves.
